A study influence of work stress and job burnout on employee satisfaction among healthcare workers in southern Rajasthan

Abstract
Stress and job burnout at work are emerging issues within the
healthcare sector, especially affecting frontline workers, as evidenced at the
regional level in Rajasthan, where raised levels of occupational stress have
been observed. The present paper examines the impact of occupational stress on
job burnout and the association between job burnout and occupational
satisfaction amongst healthcare workers in southern parts of Rajasthan. The
study was carried out in accordance with the theories of Job Demands-Resources
(JD-R) and Conservation of Resources (COR) through questionnaires to gather
data on 200 medical personnel on a 25-item, 5-construct structured
questionnaire. The reliability analysis verified the internal consistency
reliability of each construct, which was high (Cronbach's alpha coefficients
range from 0.928 to 0.937). The mathematical relationship test using Pearson
correlation analysis indicated that there was a moderate, positive correlation
with a significant level of p < 0.001. H₀₂ was rejected, and H₁₂,
"There exists a significant relationship between the level of job burnout
and employee satisfaction among healthcare workers in the southern region of
Rajasthan," was accepted, where the correlation coefficient r obtained was
0.446. In addition, simple linear regression analysis showed that work stress
significantly and strongly predicts job burnout level (R = 0.830, R² = 0.689, β
= 0.830, F = 438.781, p <.001), thus accepting the alternative hypothesis
(H11) and rejecting the null hypothesis (H01). The implications for hospital
administration, human resource managers, and future research in mediation and
case management are explored.
