Abstract
The Indian water tank industry represents a critical component of the
nation's water security infrastructure, addressing the fundamental need for
reliable water storage across residential, commercial, industrial, and
agricultural sectors. This research paper provides a comprehensive analysis of
the India water tank industry, examining market size, growth trajectories,
technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, competitive landscape, and
future prospects. The study reveals that the India water tanks market was
valued at USD 144.8 million in 2025, with projections indicating growth to USD
196.2 million by 2034, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of
3.26%. The plastic water storage tank segment, valued at USD 1.2 billion in
2023, demonstrates even stronger momentum with an expected CAGR of
approximately 12% through 2029. Through extensive literature review and market
analysis, this research identifies key drivers including rapid urbanization,
government initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, rising water scarcity concerns,
and technological innovations including IoT-enabled smart tanks and
antibacterial coatings. The study also examines significant challenges
including quality assurance, raw material price volatility, competition from
traditional materials, and sustainability considerations. The findings indicate
that the industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation from a basic
commodity sector to a sophisticated, technology-enabled industry emphasizing
material innovation, durability, and smart water management solutions. The
research concludes with strategic recommendations for industry stakeholders and
identifies promising avenues for future research and development.
